 | When I took a job as a deputy, we were given a tour. One location in particular was pointed out by my Sgt, he points to an old theater in downtown Salt Lake city, the Capital theater, and says, “That place is haunted” If anyone is in Law Enforcement, they know you don’t laugh at your Sgt, especially while on probation. He looks at me and says, “No, I mean it. It’s haunted” He was dead serious.I guess I shouldn’t have laughed because I got stuck there for six weeks of hell. My first week there I was sick and told my wife I was going to the hospital. My head tingled and it didn’t dawn on me that it did this only when I was in that building, when I walked into the old theater it was like electricity. I could live with that, it was the sightings that bothered me. I have seen black shadows in human form. On one evening myself and another officer are standing on the stage when I see a form come ¾ through the wall, look directly at me and go back. Of course the other guy didn’t see it, but I know what I saw.I have seen them on three separate occasions, but the one that shock me is the night I saw an apparition walk directly in front of me. I was on the phone talking to a friend, my feet are up on the desk, the building is empty, and I’m alone. As we talk I see this figure walk in front of my view, walking towards the stage-loading ramp. My friend senses that something is wrong, because I am making no sense talking. I am so caught off guard that I am oblivious to anything. People have asked me if it was a man or a woman, to which I rely. I didn’t go and investigate, “I saw right through the bloody thing”I worked that building for over two months and my nerves were shot, I had my fill of this crap. I have heard someone whistling, elevators going up and down by themselves. I have heard whisperings, old-fashioned music, and a woman walking across the stage in high heels when the building was empty. While on patrol one night, myself and another officer witnessed a doorknob rattling, like someone was on the other side of the door. My partner was terrified and so was I; the small dressing room was empty. I am no longer a skeptic, but a believer. This same officer and I stood on the stage one evening and were talking, as we did the area around me became very cold. It was so cold that I could no longer speak, but my chin quivered uncontrollably, we left the stage area and I felt fine after that.I have had many encounters and one I will finally tell. As I sat at my desk, the same desk where I saw the ghost, I heard a loud crash on the stage. Another officer was 2 minutes away and arrived to assist me. He took one part of the stage and I the other. We found nothing out of the ordinary, but this is what we did find. As we were searching the stage he calls out to me and asks me what I had just said, I shout to him that I couldn’t have said anything to him because of the great distance apart we were. He told me that someone had just whispered in his ear. I said, “You just had your first ghost encounter”I’m not sure why I saw, heard, smelled, and witnessed so much, I’m just glad that I no longer work there. When I started having dreams about this building and evil spirits telling me to get out, I’m glad I work elsewhere.
